“Ages Away PT 1 & 2”
Ages Away is a combination of two parts with different scenes while sharing the main topic of age. The first part is focused on my grandparent's farm. As my grandparent's age, it has become very difficult for them to keep up with the contrast work and maintenance of the various vehicles and structures, and they are currently planning to tear down the last barn standing. I wanted to capture the treasures and memories before they were torn down or taken away. For the second part, I followed the footsteps of photographer David Denny and took the same images he had taken in the 1980s. I placed my image over the top of his and changed the opacity to fade the details in the older picture, making the outlines seem almost ghostly or transparent. I hope to bring my audience back in time while creating awareness of human effects and changes throughout time. I plan to continue this photojournalistic approach by creating realistic pieces that tell a story.
